The YouTube video shown in this blog post is only about a minute long and consists of some nice quotes about the book by Christopher Smith, owner of Collected Works bookstore.

Since my last post describing the book’s progress I’ve had several radio interviews and a couple of newspaper and magazine pieces. Instead of boring you with too frequent updates on these publicity efforts, I’ve set up a “media” page at http://www.navelgazersdictionary.com/?page_id=52 where those who are particularly keen can listen, watch or read by following the links.

Update: On October 18, 2007 I was informed by YouTube that this video was being taken down due to copyright infringement. Because I want to operate in good faith, I have submitted a request to CTV for permission to use the interview sequence. The video will be unavailable unless they grant that permission. Sorry for any inconvenience.

On Monday Aug 27 I was interviewed on CTV by Leanne Cusack. I have now been able to post the video of that session here on the book blog.

As Charles Hodgson’s entertaining Carnal Knowledge: A Navel Gazer’s Dictionary of Anatomy, Etymology and Trivia (Fenn) points out, even the tiniest parts of our bodies have names. Few people will be aware, for instance, that the wrist depression between the two tendons connected to the thumb is known as the snuffbox. Or that the words “testicle” and “testify” are related because of where men used to put their hands when swearing an oath.
